The details of the meeting, however, remain scanty. ODM party officials took to social media to confirm the meeting of the two leaders. "H. E. Raila Odinga with Governor Anne Waiguru who paid him a Courtesy call at Capital Hill Square. #MbelePamoja," ODM posted on Facebook.

Waiguru's meeting with Raila has left speculations of their alliance before 2022. The Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary has been hinting that she can back Raila for the top seat after President Uhuru Kenyatta leaves power.

Waiguru joined Raila to campaign for Kibra MP Okoth Imran. The decision of the governor elicited mixed reactions from different factions considering the fact that Jubilee had fronted a candidate in the same position. In her defence, she said she decided to back Imran in the spirit of the handshake.

"I came here today because of the deep respect that I have for Raila Odinga (Mimi leo nimekuja hapa kwa heshima kuu ambayo Niko nayo kwa sababu ya, baba, the right honourable, his Excellency Raila Odinga),"she said.

The remarks come amid the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) implementation standoff.  Raila wants the nation to conduct a referendum while Deputy President William Ruto has been backing the parliamentary system.
