South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has confirmed that he is not opposing the implementation of the Building Bridges Initiative recommendations.
The youthful lawmaker while speaking on Tuesday night at a local radio station, Egesa FM maintained that meetings where leaders will be convening to discuss the BBI are meant to misuse taxpayers' money.
"It is sad that a section of leaders in this country want to use the BBI meetings to get political mileage as well as misuse public funds. The funds governors are using to organise BBI meetings should be converted for development in this country because as far as I am concerned, no one is opposing the BBI," he said.
He defended his decision to miss last week's BBI meeting held in Kisii County noting that he could not "waste time" attending the event.
According to Osoro, Kisii residents are not enjoying the fruits of devolution.
"I could not have wasted my time attending the BBI meeting which was held in Kisii because the funds the county used could have been used to improve the state of roads in the county, pay school fees to bright needy pupils joining form one," he added.
Osoro appealed to politicians to stop holding BBI meetings and focus on development.
