The two were reportedly onboard a vehicle which rammed into a stalled truck, according to Langata Sub County Commander Gregory Mutiso.

The police boss said that the duo might have bee speeding at the time of the incident, with residents who witnessed the incident adding that they might have been drunk.

They join the list of 3000 Kenyans who have lost their lives in road accidents this year, basing on data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The same data and that from the police department indicates that 3078 more sustained injuries in similar incidences.

To tame accidents during the festive season, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai last week announced that serious measures will be taken against reckless drivers.

He added that the directive will apply on drivers of both private and public service vehicle drivers.

“Overloading and speeding of all private and Public Service Vehicles shall not be tolerated,” he said

The bodies of the deceased were moved to city mortuary.
