Political analyst Dennis Anyonka has termed the union between Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka as an attempt to prove a political point.
Kalonzo last week declared support for Ford Kenya in the Kibra MP race, which has been seen as an alliance against Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga.
Ford Kenya has fronted Khamisi Butichi for the race, who will have to battle it out with among others, ODM's Imran Okoth, in the much-awaited November 7, by-election.
Speaking on Monday, Anyonka said that the aim is most likely to harass Okoth, after the collapse of the National Super Alliance (NASA) which united all the leaders and their parties.
Considering that Wetangula even threatened to get back at ODM for ousting him as the Senate Minority Leader, terming the divorce noisy, messy and with casualties, Anyonka is convinced that this could be part of the noise.
"There has been some bad blood between Raila and Kalonzo and Wetangula and that could be the reason behind their union. You do remember that Wetangula said that the divorce would be messy and noisy (Kumekuwa na bad blood kati ya Raila na Kalonzo na Wetangula na huenda ndio maana wameungana, unakumbuka Wetangula alisema divorce itakuwa messy and noisy)," he said.
He made the remarks on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday.
However, he observed that the two cannot match Raila's power even when on one side, stating that Raila is playing on another political level, after proving himself a fearless leader.
On the other hand, he said, the two even skipped his mock January 30, 2018, presidential coronation, which brought them out as weak and unreliable.
"I don't think they can match Raila's level, Kenyans know them as cowards. Kalonzo has been branded a watermelon and he has admitted that he is (Sidhani hawa wawili hata tukiwaweka pamoja hawatafikia level ya Raila. Wakenya wanajua hawa ni waoga, Kalonzo anajulikana kama watermelon na hata yeye amekubali)," he added.
The fourth NASA party, the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC) also has a candidate in the name of Eliud Owalo, a former aide to Raila.
