Ruto said that Kimengich is the right man to assume the position following the demise of Korir. He said that the new appointee has proven beyond doubt that he is a man of integrity.

The second in command exuded confidence that the new appointee will fit in the shoes of his predecessor as far as the ministering of the word of God is concerned.

"Congratulations to the Rt Rev Dominic Kimengich for being appointed the new Bishop of Eldoret Diocese. May you shepherd your flock with wisdom and lead them towards love, peace, and unity," he said.

"You are walking in the footsteps of one of Africa's most extraordinary clergymen Bishop Cornelius Korir, may his example inspire and guide you," he said.

The new bishop was selected by Pope Francis on Saturday. He will take over Bishop Maurice Crowley of Kitale Diocese who has been acting in the same capacity.

“It is true Bishop Dominic Kimengich will be the new Eldoret Diocese Bishop," read a statement from the Pope, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Kimengich was born on April 23, 1961. He was appointed as the priest of a priest of Nakuru Diocese on September 14, 1986.  Since his appointment, Kimengich has enjoyed the support of the church until his recent promotion.
