Kenyans on social media have expressed mixed reactions after former Kenyan news anchor Esther Adongo Arunga admitted to lying to the court about the death of her son Sinclair Timberlake who died in 2014.
Arunga on Monday confessed that she had initially lied to the court in order to protect her husband Quincy Timberlake.
A section of Kenyan expressed their sympathy towards Arunga who will be sentenced on Thursday in an Australian court. They say that she was just a victim of love.
Some Kenyans, however, were not sympathetic as they condemned her for protecting the murderer of her son. According to this group of netizens, Arunga knew her husband was mentally ill but did not take any action to protect their son, instead, she went ahead to protect her husband despite the fact that she knew he was guilty of killing their three-year-old son.
Popular Kenyan singer Suzanna Owiyo also sympathized with Arunga and reflected back on her heydays as a news anchor.
Another group of sympathisers compared her case to that of former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe who got in trouble after her lover allegedly killed a woman.
