Manyatta United clinched the national Chapa Dimba na Safaricom boys’ title after defeating Rift Valley’s Al Ahly 2-1 in the final at the Kinoru stadium in Meru, in June.

In a meeting held at his office, Governor Nyong’o gave the team a thumbs up for marketing the Lakeside County through football prowess.

“As a county we congratulate Manyatta United once again for their well-deserved victory in the National Chapa Dimba tournament that saw them being crowned as the national champions after beating Rift Valley Al - Ahly 2 – 1,” said the County boss.

Before being crowned national Champions in June, Manyatta United under the stewardship of Team Manager Mzee Anthony Oballa had been crowned Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Nyanza region Champions in February.

Speaking shortly after meeting the governor, Oballa said they gave him a proposal asking him to support various activities being run under the Manyatta Youth Resource Centre, a brain child of Manyatta United.

“We have a lot of activities under the resource centre which require financial support. We asked the governor to support us. Currently we do not even have a place to train,” he said.

Oballa said that they used to train at Shauri Moyo Primary School grounds, ‘before the head teacher banned us’.
