ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday reprimanded Deputy President William Ruto over his recent promises to the people of Kibra.
The city constituency has witnessed high octane campaigns in the recent weeks, with only six days now remaining before residents pick their next MP.
But while addressing Abagusii community in Kibra on Friday, Mr Odinga lashed at Dr Ruto, accusing him of hoodwinking voters unjustifiably.
Mr Odinga said that nothing blocks Ruto from developing Kibra since he holds a government position. He promised fireworks during polls.
"I have seen someone calling himself Deputy President coming here are deceiving people. Why can't he deliver whatever he's promising as DP? What prevents him?
"He should stop these nonsense and preach that rubbish elsewhere. I want you from tomorrow to lock Kibra and deal with these liars next week," he said.
While campaigning for McDonald Mariga last week, Dr Ruto promised to upgrade the slum once the Jubilee candidate wins the by-election.
“The Jubilee government will ensure that of the 500,000 new houses to be constructed, the people of Kibra will get a chance to own some of them,” said Ruto.
Mariga will face Imran Okoth of ODM, Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress, Eng Ramadhan Khamisi of Ford Kenya party among others.
