Deputy President William Ruto has asked the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) task force to proceed with the process in a transparent manner.
Speaking on Friday in Taveta during a leaders’ consultative meeting, Ruto said that he is aware of a section of leaders’ plans to hijack the report. He argued that some leaders want to take advantage of the report for their political mileage. The DP said that the rival groups have lost it all after they wanted to use their process to revive themselves.
“The task force should not be intimidated by political brokers who would want to revive their fortunes,” he said.
He appealed to the BBI taskforce to act swiftly to ensure that Kenyans are aware of the contents of the report so that they can make their final decision at the end of the day.
The second in command said that the report should give Kenyans a chance to contribute towards transforming the country in different ways.
“The programme would guide and prepare us because we would want to see the opinion of all Kenyans to count in this process,” he added.
The DP has been against the tours to popularize the BBI report in different parts of the nation.
He believes some leaders want to regain their political prowess through the report after it was unveiled.
