Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka contributed money to help renowned gymnast Wendy Waeni, the youngster's mother Magdalene Syombua has claimed.
Waeni has been in the headlines after she accused her former manager, Joe Mwangi, of conning her money she obtained from well wishers to advance her career.
Syombua now claims that part of the money Mwangi allegedly swindled her daughter was from prominent politicians who include Raila and Kalonzo.
“He received money from politicians in the name of my daughter; he got Sh140,000 from Raila Odinga and only gave me Sh30,000,” Syombua said on Tuesday.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the mother said Kalonzo and renowned TV journalist Jeff Koinange also gave out money which Mwangi received on behalf of Waeni, but he only forwarded a few thousands.
“In another instance, he got Sh100,000 from Kalonzo Musyoka and TV presenter Jeff Koinange each and I only received Sh20,000 and Sh4,000 respectively," she said.
Syombua went ahead to claim Mwangi could not also account for some of the money Waeni got from Rwanda President Paul Kagame when he toured Kigali for a performance.
“During our trip to Rwanda, President Paul Kagame gave me Sh500,000 to support Wendy’s talent, I shared the money with Joe by giving him Sh200,000 but he still demanded for more,” the mother said.
Mwangi has, however, denied the allegations saying he was not part of Waeni's trips outside the country and, therefore, he is not responsible for any money loss.
"Let nobody ask me any more questions. I was NEVER involved Directly or INDIRECTLY with any Wendy's trip abroad (if there happens to be any). Let those who were responsible with the trips answer the questions," he tweeted on Tuesday.
