Itumbi, in a tweet on Thursday, faulted the manner in which the DCI prosecuted the case.

He claimed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) relied on media headlines on individuals accused of a crime to cow and execute arrests on them.

The renown blogger also claimed DCI carried out 'poor' investigations leading to the acquittal of suspects such as Ngwele by the court of law.

".@DCI_Kenya has just injected FEAR - Nothing Else. Most stories they have told us through Leaked Headlines, have been dismissed as a collection of rumours in Court. Eg. the Arrest, headlines & poor investigation of Nairobi County Clerk Ngwele. No case won, Just lost!" Tweeted Itumbi.

Last month, the Nairobi County Assembly clerk was allowed by the Employment and Labour Relations Court to resume duty in a police escort.

Ngwele had been suspended by Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi for absconding duty and frustrating payments for various services in the city.

The clerk had tlater sued Elachi together with Nairobi County Assembly for disobeying court orders which wanted him back to the office.

In June 2018, Ngwele's woes with DCI began.

The DCI had attempted to arrest him unsuccessfully together with other Nairobi county officials over an irregular award of tender by his office.
