Action for Transparency Organisation has awarded the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji for his effort in the war against graft.
The organization recognized the effort of the DPP after his massive effect in curbing economic crime cases amid pressure from the political class.
“DPP Noordin Haji has received the 2019 Leadership Integrity Award from @a4tkenya for his integrity, exemplary leadership & strategic direction for his office. He dedicated it to the .@ODPP_KE staff saying it was as a result of team effort that he was awarded," read a message from the DPP posted on Twitter.
Haji assumed office on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.
During his tenure, Kenyans have seen several powerful individuals arrested and charged in court over graft including Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Dr Kamau Thugge.
Haji assumed office following the retirement of the current Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko who was then the DPP.
Former Auditor General Edward Ouko was also awarded for his effort in fighting for integrity as well as exemplary leadership he provided during his tenure in office.
Others who bagged awards are activist Okiya Omtatah and faces behind the Mara Heist.
The winners of the different awards were announced on Tuesday after stiff competition from different quarters.
