Led by Dr Paul Korir of Pure Natures Herbal Clinic the current amount is high and cannot be afforded by the herbalist who goes throw allot to get the drugs.

“As herbalist from Uasin Gishu we want the government chemist to reduce the price we pay to get patent rights per brand of herbal medicine from the current Sh65,000 to at least Sh1,000,” said Dr Korir.

He reiterated that they are not able to package and sell their brands across the country since they have no patent rights to sell their medicine as their own.

They spoke to the press during the Uasin Gishu 1st annual Sisibo Cultural Festival that was held at Teachers Advisory Center (TAC) on Friday.

“For example, a person like me I have more than one hundred types of drugs, therefore, I am supposed to pay Sh6,500,000 and surely I cannot raise such an amount which will force to close my business,” added Dr Korir.

They called on the government to support them by reducing the amount for them to continue treating patients using herbal medicine since it has proved to cure lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure.

Dr Korir further refuted claims that herbal doctors are witchdoctors saying that they are trained on the herbal medicines and they know which medicine cures a certain disease and its side effects if any.
