Speaking on Saturday at the funeral service of Ann Wairimu, a former MCA who perished in a grisly accident along Nairobi-Kangundo road, Muthama stated that Kalonzo is not the perfect leader but he is the only Kamba leader close to the presidency.

He said that if he joins the likes of governors Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana in captivating Kalonzo, then he will be going against his calls for unity.

"I can never allow myself to be seen as someone who leads a rebel fraction of people out to bring division in the community," said Muthama.

"I know Kalonzo is not perfect but he is the only leader we have who have made strides in politics and can clinch the presidency," he added.

Muthama said that he wants to be remembered as someone who fought for the unity of the Kamba community, a legacy that will live on forever.

He stated that if the Kamba community had supported Paul Ngei, there is a possibility he would have taken over the presidency from the founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
