The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) has listed 11 counties as the most exposed to starvation as a result of worsening drought.

According to NDMA, the drought situation in these counties is reaching an alarming stage.

The counties are; Wajir, Turkana, West Pokot, Narok, Meru North in Meru County, Baringo, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Tharaka Nithi, Kieni in Nyeri and Samburu.

The report indicates that some parts of Migori county are also experiencing the same, with water sources fast drying up,.

Dams and water pans in the 11 counties are expected to dry up or get depleted in the next one month, with details from the authority indicating that they are only 11.1 percent full.

In Wajir, the authority has established that the available pasture might be depleted within two weeks, with the state of livestock deteriorating in the Northern Kenya counties.

This had been reported in Buna, Eldas, Bute and some parts of Wajir East where animals are becoming more weak due to food and water shortage.

In Bura, Galole, and Garsen in Tana River County, the residents are experiencing an acute drought.
