Deputy President William Ruto on Monday evening showcased his penalty shooting skills leaving Kenyans excited. The video of the second in command taking a penalty during his tour in Western Kenya has since gone viral.
In the short clip, the DP is seen making ten press-ups before he goes to take the penalty.
The referee approaches him and gives him instructions before he takes the shoot out. The Kalenjin political kingpin doesn’t disappoint his supporters and he leaves the goalkeeper on the ground and the ball at the back of the net. He runs around and cheers after scoring.
He later took to social media to urge youths to embrace sports in different areas. He also said that the government is committed to supporting talented youths in pursuing their talent.
“Sport is an important activity in the community as it entertains, brings people from diverse regions and backgrounds together and is also a viable source of livelihood for some of our youth,” he said.
“We need more facilities and coaching at the grassroots to convert talented youth into professionals by giving them the desired exposure, technical knack, and tricks needed to rise to the next level,” he added.
Ruto has been at the forefront in supporting sports.
