Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has lashed out at a section of Mt Kenya politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, over a recent meeting held in Eldoret.
Speaking on Saturday, he termed the lot a group of "disabled'' leaders, using tribalism to fulfill their own political needs at the expense of Kenyans.
He took issue with their Thursday meeting with the DP at his home in Sugoi, a meeting the group termed a confirmation of the union between the Kikuyu and Ruto's Kalenjin community.
Wamwere accused the leaders of attempting to create a friendship between Kalenjin, and Kikuyu communities for financial gains, which he termed a sign of poor leadership.
"We have disabled politicians. Some are terming themselves leaders of Rift Valley Kikuyus as if there are two types of Kikuyus. (Tuko na viongozi vilema. Kuna wengine wanajiita viongozi wa wakikuyu wa Bonde La Ufa kana kwamba kuna Wakikuyu aina mbili)," he said on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show.
He noted that the group need not hold tribal meetings as most of its members sit in Parliament, which consists Kenyans from across the country, where the unity call should be taken.
"These people sit in parliament where there are leaders from across the country, why not unite Kenyans from there (Hawa watu wanakaa bungeni ambako kuna viongozi kutoka Kenya nzima, mbona hahawezi unganishia wakenya kule)," he added.
