Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has poked holes into Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's move to suspend 16 county officials with relations to the Precious Talent School collapse.
Sonko on Wednesday suspended the group over possible involvement in graft to let the school put up weak structures, which collapsed leaving 7 pupils dead and others injured.
But Wamwere on Saturday found it questionable that the governor can heap corruption allegations on anyone, yet he is personally battling similar allegations.
He said that Sonko lacks the moral authority of accusing anyone of graft, adding that the fact that many buildings in the county fall short of the required standards is proof enough that he should not be anywhere near City Hall.
"Sonko's county has a lot of poor buildings. He is also sacking his officials for alleged corruption yet he too is being investigated over the same. He lacks the moral authority (Kwanza huyu Sonko gatuzi lake lina haya najumba yote mabovu na anafuta maafisa wake eti juu ya ufisadi ilhali yeye mwenyewe anachunguzwa ufisadi. Hana moral authority)," he said.
The former Subukia Member of Parliament made the remarks on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening.
He added that the same takes the nation back to a recent survey which ranked Sonko among the best performing governors in the country.
According to the politician, weighing the two clearly shows that some game was played with the intention of misleading Kenyans.
"How can Nairobi have so many issues and emerge number 3? We are being played with and we bow have our answer (Inawezekanaje Nairobi iwe na matatizo haya yote na iwe namba tatu? Hapa tunafanyiwa mambo ya mchezo na sasa tunepata jibu)," he added.
