People complain of not getting promoted at work despite their efforts. Do you know what will make your boss grant you a promotion?
Here are 5 things they look out for when granting promotions;
1. Productivity
Of course, this is the first thing they look for; your productivity. Are you competent in your area of work? Are you punctual and serious about your work? Bosses admire employees who produce results.
2. You are an excellent intrapreneur
Do you have the ability to come up with beneficial ideas that the company can invest in from within? Such employees are usually held in high esteem because the company depends on them in a way.
3. Team player
A team player at work is someone who supports his/her fellows to ensure everybody is on the same page. Instead of being mean and selfish, they share ideas with people around them for the general benefit of the company.
4. Patience
Most people become impatient after working for 3 to 4 years without climbing up to a higher position. The thing is, bosses only consider employees who are patient and don't act in ways likely to suggest that they need to be promoted.
5. They evaluate your skills
As you go to work every day, always focus on gaining new skills. Bosses look for employees with skills for working or managing people. Do you know how to communicate effectively? Can you lead projects? Can you stand in for someone when they are not around?
