Embattled Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has yet again taken a swipe at his party leader Musalia Mudavadi following their latest standoff.
Amani National Congress party suspended the outspoken senator last week, and he's expected to face the party's disciplinary committee.
Malala was suspended for among others, campaigning for ODM candidate Imran Okoth in Kibra by-election despite the party fielding Eliud Owalo.
However, on Sunday in Vihiga, Malala accused Mudavadi of reducing the party to a Luhya outfit, adding that he has substantially diminished his chances of becoming president.
“ANC party has been made to look like a Luhya outfit and that is why Mudavadi has failed to attract other leaders nationally to support his bid. Even in his county, he has failed to produce a governor for two terms now,” he said.
Mudavadi has been keen ahead of the 2022 presidential polls, often projecting himself as the de facto opposition leader.
Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, who was also subjected to the disciplinary committee by the party, asked Malala to ignore the summons.
“They have been fighting me for the past many years wanting me to leave the party but they have not been able to succeed. They have been defeated sending me out of the party and now want to go for Malala. They will not succeed,” he said.
Malala was first elected as an ODM MCA in the Kakamega County Assembly before clinching the senatorial seat. He's keen to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
