Residents of Nyabiuto in Kiogoro, Kisii county are mourning the death of a man who committed suicide after a disagreement with his wife.
It is alleged that the deceased identified as Samuel Orina had a domestic quarrel with his wife before he hanged himself inside their house.
Kisii police commander Martin Kibet said the deceased body was discovered inside his house on Monday after neighbours failed to see him in the morning as usual.
"The deceased had a domestic disagreement. The wife escaped from the homestead after the quarrel, something that angered the deceased. His lifeless body was found hanging from the roof of the house by a neighbour who went to check on him," Kibet said as reported by Egesa Fm.
He said police officers from Kiogoro police station picked the body and took it to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital for preservation waiting for burial.
The commander reported that the wife went back to her parental home after the quarrel. He urged couples to solve marital differences peacefully.
"Men need to seek guidance anytime they are faced with challenges in marriage to avoid unnecessary deaths," he noted.
Kibet regretted increased cases of suicide across the county arguing couples should tolerate one another for the sake of building strong marriages.
