Through a Facebook post on Monday, Murkomen said Environment CS Keriako Tobiko has no powers whatsoever to evict people living in Mau.

“There will be no eviction from Masai Mau Trust Land until President Uhuru Kenyatta speaks. CS Tobiko who is conflicted has no moral authority to evict people against the law."

“We have asked Kenyans to stay put and our children to go to school like children of all other Kenyans,” stated the Senate Majority Leader.

Murkomen has been vocal in fighting for the rights of people living in Mau forest terming their planned evictions as inhuman and against the law.

He says that Jubilee government was formed to settle forest evictees and victims of Post Election Violence and It will be a betrayal of the highest order if President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Over 60,000 families from the Mau forest are expected to be evicted by the government in phase two of the eviction to conserve the water catchment area.

The eviction has, however, been supported by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.
