Eating two apples a day could prevent heart attack, a survey published on a UK news site Express notes.

American Journal of Clinical Nutrition advises people to consume at least two apples a day to avert heart-related complications like heart attack.

A study that was conducted on 40 people with slightly high cholesterol, established that two apples lowered the level of bad cholesterol by almost four per cent.

Bad cholesterol can block the blood vessels and kindle heart attack.

Professor Julie Lovegrove, senior author of the study from the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition echoed that people who eat two apples a day have good cholesterol as compared to those who had apple juice and this keeps the heart on a check.

“People who ate daily two large apples high in polyphenols had lower LDL cholesterol, also known as 'bad' cholesterol, and no reduction in good cholesterol compared to people having an apple-based drink," explains Julie, as quoted by Express

The fibre and polyphenols found in apples have massive importance to the heart.

In another study conducted on people aged between 20-69, it was ascertained that apples had the capacity to lower the risks of heart attacks by a greater percentage.
