Garissa County woman representative Anab Subow has come to the rescue of Garissa residents living in areas hit by drought.
In a Facebook post, the woman rep said that she had dispatched 2 water bowsers to Dagega to help residents there cope with the effects of drought.
She promised to deploy the water bowsers to other parts of the North Eastern county grappling with the effects of drought.
"After an outcry from the locals concerning the drought that has ravaged parts of Garissa County, i have sent two water bowsers to Dagega which hosts thousands of herders as part of measures to counter the effects of drought.
"My office will also send a number of Water Bowsers to the other parts of the county In shaa Allah.I passionately appeal to the governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations to give a helping hand to those people who were affected by the ravaging drought in the Northern Region," her post read in part.
Garissa and other neighbouring counties grapple with an inadequate water supply due to prolonged drought situations.
Residents of the counties have to traverse long distances in search of the important commodity.
In spite of interventions by the Governor Korane-led county administration, there are still areas that do not have access to water.
