The push dubbed 'Punguza Mizigo' seeks to reduce elective seats, in a bid to reduce the wage bill, hoping to in exchange, save the taxpayer from the current huge tax burden.

In a tweet Tuesday, he claimed that the situation is the same among members of the Luo community, proceeding to allocate himself a hilarious Luo nickname in the process.

He referred to himself as 'Akuru Mokuot' which translates to 'a swollen dove' in Luo, adding that his idea has been received well and is celebrated by members of the community.

"Jokanyanam owacho ni #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 KENDE. Onge ng'at ma pingo paro maler ma AKURU MOKUOT osekelo oganda ni. @EAukot."

This translates to; People from the lake have said that Punguza Mizigo is the only option. None can oppose the clean ideology brought to this people by Akuru Mokuot," he wrote.

Aukot and his team have since presented 1.4 million signatures to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in line with the push, which are currently being scrutinized.

The bill is then set to be presented to the three parliamentary levels for approval, before the commission decides on whether or not it should amount to a referendum.
