In a tweet on Friday, Kipkorir said that the senator should resign from the position to pave way for a probe into the graft allegations facing him. The lawyer said that it doesn’t make sense for a graft suspect to form part of a team that wants to heal the past wounds.

The lawyer opined that it is in order for the senator to leave the team after the declaration from the US.

“US revoked the visa of Senator Amos Wako for “serious corruption” ... We aren’t privy to the details. The US is the world's pre-eminent power & our Big Donor. .. It’s only the most Moral, Honourable & Decent thing for Wako to resign from both BBI & Senate till he clears his name,” he tweeted.

Wako, however, came forth and dismissed the travel ban moments after it was issued. He said that his woes date back to the time he was the Attorney General.

He affirmed that he has never been interested in traveling to the US. He asked the US government to keep his wife and son out of the issue, adding that they were not part of the government.

The ban of the senator elicited mixed reactions from different quarters. The senator has, however, remained in the BBI taskforce. The team’s term was extended by President Uhuru Kenyatta. The head of state has been mum on the issue amid concerns from Kenyans.
