A section of Moi University Law students on Friday held a peaceful demonstration in Eldoret town in support of the Punguza Mzigo Bill being fronted by Thirdway Alliance party.
Led by the Law Students Society of Kenya Moi University Annex chapter president John Mueke, the students said the bill will reduce the wage bill and will bring funds to the grassroots.
“As law students, we are in support of the Punguza Mizigo Initiative fully since it will reduce the burden Kenyans are facing and anyone against it is against the interest of common mwananchi who support it fully,” said Mueke.
He spoke to the press at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly after holding a peaceful demonstration in Eldoret.
The students also wondered why the government was spending a lot of resources to the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) which they claimed is meant to add more burden to Kenyans by creating more political seats.
They also warned MCAs across the country against being used by some self-centred politicians to shoot down the bill.saying their mandate is to represent the views of the electorate and not anyone else.
The students, however, hailed Uasin Gishu MCAs who have already given the bill a green light.
