Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga wrote a beautiful message for his wife Mama Idah Odinga Saturday Saturday night.
In a Facebook post, Mr Odinga expressed his gratitude to his wife, describing her as a pillar of strength.
He thanked Mama Idah for offering guidance to the family while wishing her God's blessings on her birthday.
"Thank you for being a pillar of strength and guidance for us as a family all throughout the years. May God bless you on your special day. Happy Birthday Mama Ida, " Raila Odinga's Facebook post read.
The former prime minister's post, however, fell short of revealing the age that his wife of many years had attained.
Raila Odinga fell in love with Idah when she was a teacher.
The two have been by each other's side through thick and thin.
She had to endure long nights when Odinga was arrested by the Moi administration over a plot to overthrow the government of the day.
As Raila has engaged in politics, Idah has been there to take care of the family.
She bore her two sons and two daughters.
The two spent the day together at their Karen home where they were counted as the national census kicked off.
