Lately, there have been reports that Kalonzo could be in alliance talks with the DP, with an eye in the presidential race in the 2022 general polls.

But in an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, he denied the claims, saying that he is only working with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Vice President added that those claiming that he is in talks with the DP, who is also eyeing the presidency in 2022 just like him, are out to confuse Kenyans.

"I have said that I am working with Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, saying that I am working with the Deputy President is causing mental issues. (Mimi nimesema nafanya kazi na Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, kusema nafanya kazi na naibu wa rais ni kama kuleta matatizo ya kimafikira)," Kalonzo said in a video shared by Citizen TV on Twitter. (from minute 2:15)

He added that there has not been any contact between him and Ruto about 2022 and that Uhuru had also not spoken to him about the DP.

He said that not until Uhuru reccomends the DP that he might consider negotiating with him, but as things stand now, its only him and Uhuru.

"I am working with Uhuru Kenyatta, if he proposes Ruto then we will discuss (Mimi nafanya kazi na Uhuru Kenyatta, Uhuru akisema fanya kazi na Ruto tutazungumza)," Kalonzo said

The remarks come only two days after the  DP, through his Twitter handle, welcomed the former Vice President to the ruling Jubilee Party.

This, however, is despite the fact that Kalonzo had not announced any plans to leave or dissolve his party, Wiper.
