Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Saturday toured Tharaka Nithi county where he attended the thanksgiving of Tharaka Member of Parliament George Gitonga, and also presided over the opening of a secondary school.
In a tweet on Saturday evening, Ruto emphasized on the need for peaceful coexistence among Kenyans. According to the DP, peaceful coexistence was the only way that the country would achieve development.
“The capacity to bring communities together; enhance cohesion and unity is the foundation of a strong, prosperous country. Let's continue to extend harmonious relationships, cement peaceful coexistence among the population to realise shared prosperity and sustainable development,” he said.
Earlier on, the DP presided over the opening of Kamaguna Secondary School in Gatunga.
“A robust education infrastructure is an effective tool for teaching and learning. It enhances student-teacher engagement; improves learners' capabilities and grades; reduces drop out rates; creates good spaces for the physical development of students and fosters holistic growth,” he tweeted.
During the visit, the DP also commissioned the Tharaka Technical Training College, in Marimanti.
