The rowdy youths burned t-shirts branded 'Uhuru's bedroom' while chanting Ruto's name near Giakanja Boys Secondary School.

However, police dispersed the youths and arrested some of them, before the arrival of the DP who was the chief guest.

Taking to social media to condemn the incident, Ngunjiri Wambugu, a member of the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee party sensationally claimed that 'Ruto's people' were behind the act which caused a lot of tension in the area.

"So Ruto’s people have paid goons to burn Uhuru’s T-shirt’s in Nyeri? And to do it shouting ‘Ruto! Ruto!’" he posted on Facebook.

Earlier on, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria had accused Wambugu of a plan to disrupt a church function in which Ruto was expected to attend.

In a Facebook post, the MP asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho to ensure police maintain law and order.

"Dear PS Kibicho and CS Matiangi. There are rumours that Nyeri Town MP is organising goons to disrupt the event at the AIPCA Mukaro Church that will be graced by the Deputy President this afternoon," Kuria claimed.

"Kindly ask the police to mantain law and order. I real fear for the lives of those goons given that the AIPCA faithful are the real freedom fighters who liberated this country. The body count might be shocking. I am sure you are up to the task. Uphold the rule of law," the vocal MP added.

In a rejoinder, Wambugu denied the allegations saying Kuria will be answerable in case any chaos erupts.

"We won't be intimidated my friend (Ithûî tûtîendagîrîo gûoya). And you must be held accountable for any violence in Nyeri today," the MP said.
