Former US ambassador Nikky Hailey has claimed that there was an attempt made to recruit her to undermine President Donald Trump.
In her upcoming memoir, Hailey named former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former White House chief of staff John Kelly as the individuals who tried to recruit her in that effort to undermine Trump.
She said that she was told by Tillerson that people would lose their lives if the US president was not kept in check.
Hailey, however, said that she refused to do what she had been requested to do because she believed that undermining the president was a dangerous thing to do.
"It should have been, go tell the President what your differences are and quit if you don't like what he's doing," she said in an exclusive interview with CBS in the morning.
"To undermine a President is really a very dangerous thing. And it goes against the Constitution and it goes against what the American people want. It was offensive, " she added.
Tillerson has not yet responded to the devastating claims made by the former US ambassador to the United Nations.
Hailey said that she was extremely shocked to learn that there were individuals in the administration actively working to undermine the president.
"I was so shocked I didn't say anything going home because I just couldn't get my arms around the fact that here you have two key people in an administration undermining the President," she told the Washington Post.
