Scholar Makau Mutua has warned Deputy President William Ruto to tread cautiously ahead of 2022. In a tweet on Wednesday, Makau said that the second in command needs to be satisfied with what he has.
In an apparent reference to his battle with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Amolo Odinga, Makau asked the second in command not to lose focus in the name of fighting battles that are not necessary. He asked him to concentrate on what he has at the moment than sideshows.
"DP Ruto beware. A dog had a piece of meat in his mouth. As he crossed a river, he saw his own shadow in the water. Thinking it was another dog with another piece of meat, he snapped at the shadow in the water. The meat in his mouth fell out, dropped into the water and was lost.
The remarks come after Ruto's allies changed their tune on Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting. Led by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the leaders have now vowed to attend all the BBI meetings across the country starting with the Mombasa tour.
The allies of the DP have, however, asked the opposition not to insult him during the forums. They have also promised to avoid sideshows when they attend the BBI rallies in different parts of the nation.
