President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted at embarking on a tour of the vast Mt Kenya region in the coming days.
Uhuru has not been frequent in the region, which doubles up as his backyard, in his second term, but now says that he will be soon going around the populous region.
Addressing a Mt Kenya caucus meeting at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri on Friday, Uhuru said that the tour, which will be development-oriented, will begin in Meru county.
"Please let us be one and develop this region. We will start with Meru," said the head of state, only days after he called off his Murang'a visit at the eleventh hour.
In his unity call, he urged all area politicians to join hands for the sake of the residents, stressing on the need for them to avoid being divided by their political differences.
He said that the differences can always be solved in the end.
"Even for me when I go home, I find my wife in a mood that makes me sit aside but that does not mean that I leave my home. I relax and say we can pick up the conversations the following morning so that she cools down from what is disturbing her," he added.
