Deputy President Dr William Ruto has called for honesty in the raging Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking in Itierio, Kisii county, the country's second in command made the case for all people irrespective of their political leaning to be allowed to contribute their views in the BBI process.
He held the view that the only way of ensuring an honest engagement is by accommodating those with divergent views in the BBI meetings.
DP Ruto said that the initiative was not just for the country's politicians but for all Kenyans, calling on politicians to do away with hypocrisies.
"We are building bridges of friendship and development; let us stop any underlying hypocrisies and unite the country,” the DP said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Ruto's intervention came a day after Moses Kuria, one of his allies, was reportedly harassed during the Kitui BBI meeting.
So far 4 BBI popularisation rallies have been held with the fifth expected to be held next Saturday in Meru County, coming after the meetings held in Kisii, Kakamega, Mombasa and Kitui counties.
The DP has not himself attended the meetings but has called for the BBI committee to release a timetable for the collection of the views.
