On Thursday, Elachi said that she has not returned to work with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MCAs only but also those affiliated to Jubilee and other parties as well.

She also said that her return was not only pushed by ODM but also other MCAs who felt she deserved to be in office.

“I am not a speaker of ODM but a speaker of the Nairobi assembly. Not anyone's side can claim I am its Speaker because when you look back, both sides of the House played a role in my impeachment," Elachi said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

She also noted that the people of Nairobi deserve good leadership, adding that she will rule with their needs in mind.

The former nominated Senator promised to respect and abide by the decision of the party and asked the members not to remain adamant of change as she seeks to restore the lost glory of the county government.

The remarks come after the Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Wednesday called for a meeting to end the stalemate between Elachi and the MCAs.

During the meeting , Tuju read the riot act to the MCAs and reminded them of the need to support Elachi as she resumes work.
