The new Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner Johnson Mwirigi on Thursday assumed office.
Speaking during a handing over ceremony, Mwirigi said that he is up to the task of improving security in Nakuru East Sub County that is characterized by the outlawed 'confirm group' as well as illegal drugs and illicit brew dens.
The DCC also stated that he will work closely with chiefs and other administrators in addressing the issue of street families which has been a menace in the Nakuru CBD.
“I am up to the task and we shall work closely with administrators including chiefs to ensure Nakuru East Sub County is secure,” said Mwirigi.
His predecessor, Herman Shambi who is headed to Homa Bay as acting County Commissioner faulted residents for failing to share exclusive information about illegal gangs hiding heads as street urchins.
Shambi said that despite the challenge, they had already managed to interrupt operations and growth of the illegal ‘confirm group'.
“If the public does not give information then they make our operation difficult. But I must say we are on top of the issues in Nakuru East and as we talk now we have managed to address the menace of ‘confirm’ and illicit brew” noted the outgoing DCC.
