Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Chomba said the county askaris have turned out to be the people terrorizing residents.

"Sadly, the people who are supposed to guard and protect the people are the ones stealing money, phones thus turning Eldoret into a small Somalia where no law is followed," said the Huruma MCA.

“In 2017 the same group which is now terrorizing wananchi worked as youth wingers for a certain politician thereafter, turned into a militia group called 'Okoa town' which is now a security threat,” added Chomba.

He said that the said group have godfathers noting that all Uasin Gishu leadership from the Senator, Woman Representative and MPs have stayed mum on the same despite knowing what is going on.

"It's sad that even police officers are afraid of dealing with them. Despite people reporting, police do not follow up on the matter because they fear being sacked," he added.

Chomba called on the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to intervene by forming a committee to look into the matter and shed light on what exactly is happening since residents are suffering.
