Former Mwingi Central lawmaker Joe Mutambu has thrown his weight behind the calls for constitutional amendments, backing the push for a reintroduction of the parliamentary system.
Currently, under the presidential governance system, Cabinet Secretaries are appointed from outside the parliament, which the ex-MP says has brought 'foreigners' into the cabinet.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Mutambu said that some of the people picked for the positions are completely unfit, considering that they have never been interested in Kenyans' matters.
He claimed that some have spent their lives abroad, only coming to Kenyans to take up the positions, claiming that others cannot even speak the Swahili language.
"Some ministers have studied and married abroad and don't even understand Swahili. Some don't even know their sub chiefs and are trying to colonize us by branding us bad people for not understanding English (Kuna mawaziri wamesomea ng'ambo na wakaolea hukohuko hata hawajui Kiswahili. Wengine hata hawajui Sub chief wao ni nani halafu wanatuletea ukoloni eti kama hujui kizungu wewe ni mbaya)," he said on Radio Citizen, Wednesday night.
He added that the fact that the current CSs did not pass through the ballot, and only have the President to thank for their stay in office, has made some ignorant.
According to Mutambu, they also don't find it necessary being serious at work, well aware that they will not be handing back their scorecard to Kenyans while seeking a reelection.
"Waziri akichaguliwa na mwananchi atachunga pesa yao maana anajua akirudi atafukuzwa lakini hawa wasomi hawajali," he added.
This translates to "If elected by the people, ministers will take care of their money, aware that they might be chased when they head back to Kenyans. However, these scholars don't care."
