State House spokesperson Kanze Dena on Tuesday found herself on the receiving end following remarks that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not willing to hold Jubilee party meeting.
Deputy President William Ruto has been pushing for the meeting with sources saying that he's keen to have Uhuru convening the meeting to solve wrangles in Jubilee.
According to Dena, President Uhuru Kenyatta is determined to deliver on his agenda, adding that politics are not among the president's agenda.
“The question on Jubilee meeting is political. And like my boss has said before, we are not going to delve into political issues,” said Ms Dena during a bi-weekly press briefing at State House.
“If, at all, the party calls a meeting, then it will happen,” said the head of Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
But Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot dismissed Dena's remarks, adding that Uhuru is Jubilee party leader thus should address certain issues.
“We are waiting for a word from President Kenyatta himself because he is our party leader. There are things that can only be addressed at his level,” said Mr Cheruiyot.
Similar sentiments were shared by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei who said that the party leadership has an obligation to summon members for a Parliamentary Group meeting.
Mr Cherargei said: “That’s a party leadership decision to be made by the party leader, deputy party leader and parliament leadership. It isn’t an executive decision.”
