In a tweet on Thursday evening, Ruto eulogized Mama Wambui as a heartful woman.

"Condolences to the family and friends of Mama Rahab Wambui, mother of former MP Peter Kenneth. Mama Wambui was affable, generous and kind. Thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones. Rest In Peace," he said.

The late Wambui passed away on Thursday morning after a long battle with illness

She had been receiving treatment at Nairobi's Aga Khan Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since November 2018. It has not been revealed what Wambui was suffering from.

Her life has not been easy as he had been confined to a wheelchair for the last 10 years. More leaders and Kenyans have joined in to send condolence messages to Kenneth's family.

Other leaders who have condoled with Kenneth's family include President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege among others.
