Speaking in Nairobi to members of the press on Sunday while flanked by other legislators, the outspoken legislator warned against faking of the census numbers.

The first time MP appeared to cast aspersions on the credibility of the once in ten years exercise.

"And the direct link is making us wonder whether there`s something being cooked about this census. We want exact figures, exact numbers to be produced the way they are not the way they ought to be, " the Embakasi legislator said.

There have been concerns over the accuracy of the data collected during the census with some politicians claiming the numbers of some regions in the country are overblown.

The government promised to ensure that the head count unfolds seamlessly and that the data collected is credible.

Unlike in the previous census where data was manually collected, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology said that state of the art gadgets had been deployed.

The gadgets, according to ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, are foolproof and cannot be tampered with.

Data collected at the source is taken to a central server.
