Details have emerged on the reason why a postmortem on fallen Kisumu Court of Appeal Judge Otieno Odek was presided over by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor.
The judge who was found dead in his apartment last week was found to have succumbed to a blood clot in his right leg blocking his pulmonary thromboembolism.
Details now indicate that Oduor's involvement was proposed by Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, to avoid any issues that might arise afterwards.
The same was confirmed by Odek's brother Yonah Odek and Nyanza Regional DCI boss James Kipsoi, who also cited Odek's status.
"Considering the status of Justice Odek, the DCI wanted the exercise conducted in an organised manner and avoid any rising issues," Kipsoi said in Kisumu on Tuesday as quoted by the Star.
The judge's brother said that to make the exercise successful, the family was advised to liaise with the Office of the Chief Justice and the Chief Pathologist to agree on a good date.
"The Judiciary representatives are fully involved in all arrangements,” he said.
This was the reason why the exercise was postponed last Thursday.
He said that burial preparations for the 56-year-old, who is set to he buried in Asembo, Siaya County, are underway.
