The unidentified beast is said to be roaming the area at night and attacking goats and sheep.

"In the morning, I found 14 goats dead and their blood suckled by an unknown animal. The animal which we have not identified yet has caused us losses," said Nzuki Katithi whose goats were killed.

Last week, six sheep were also killed by the animal. Muthetheni MCA Jeremiah Munguti has called on the Kenya Wildlife Service to swing in action and rid villagers of the wild animal.

Addressing journalists on Monday, Munguti said that it's time the locals be helped before they suffer more loss.

He noted that due to drought, residents depend on their livestock for food.

"It is sad that our locals are losing their livestock to wild animals, now that food is scarce they are selling them in order to buy food. When they are killed it's a setback," said Munguti.

He said KWS should intervene fast and trap the animal.
