Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi on Saturday took the backseat during a fundraiser in Migori county, as the function slowly turned into a political rally.
The CS had attended a church fundraiser which was also attended by 12 opposition parliamentarians who took the opportunity to air their support for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Matiang'i silently watched as the group, led by area Senator Ochilo Ayacko hit out at Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi over his recent attacks on the Head of State, bashing him severely.
The MPs insisted that the presidency must be respected, adding that they never went to Sudi's extent before Uhuru's truce with opposition boss Raila Odinga in March 2018.
"Even when we were fighting Jubilee at the height of the 2017 campaigns, we never insulted the President the way Jubilee MPs from the Rift Valley are insulting him," said Saboti MP Caleb Amisi as quoted by Standard.
Nyatike MP Tom Odege warned Sudi, who recently accused Uhuru of incompetence, saying that he can perform better than him, of a face off should he continue hurling the insults.
"We are extremely tired with this man calling himself Sudi. Let him come out in the open with his agenda and we will face him head on," Odege warned.
CS Matiang'i steered clear of the issue, in a function that was also attended by among others, MPs Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), Peter Masara (Suna West) and Junet Mohammed (Suna East).
