Thousands of people on Monday turned up at Ekerenyo stadium in North Mugirango constituency, Nyamira County to attend Deputy President William Ruto's function.
DP Ruto was hosted by area MP Joash Nyamoko who was elected on a Jubilee party ticket during the 2017 polls.
The Deputy President presided over fundraiser at Ekerenyo for various woman groups.
Despite the fact that Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama boycotted the event, residents thronged the stadium to welcome DP Ruto.
Ruto who has declared to run for presidency in 2022 once his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta retires is keen to get votes in the vote rich county.
Nyamira County is perceived to be a stronghold for the former presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Leaders who accompanied DP Ruto include South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi among other leaders.
Osoro, while addressing residents, warned that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i will not make it to State House as he is being pushed to vie.
"He can't win president because he has never been even a tea buying center chairman," Osoro said.
