Newly appointed Labour Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta following his appointment.
In a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, Chelugui said that he is grateful to the head of state for giving him another chance to serve in his government in a different capacity.
The former CS in the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation said that he is ready to assume his new role after Uhuru's reorganization of the cabinet.
He said that his appointment is a clear indicator that the President has confidence in him, adding that he will not let him down as far as discharging his duties is concerned.
" I want to thank the president for once again bestowing a lot of honour and trust in me to lead yet another important ministry in this country," he said.
He also said that he will coordinate with other officials in his dockets to ensure that workers have reasons to smile after his appointment. Chelugui alluded that he will embrace the open door policy to make it easy for him to understand the labour market.
"We will have engagements with workers to synergize the labour movement in Kenya. We will have an open door policy and will continue to champion collective terms and agreements," he said.
