Veteran trade unionist and COTU boss Francis Atwoli has said that he intends to retire from the union in 2022.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday, Atwoli said that he will not engage in politics or any other activity upon retirement.
He noted that he only wants to lead a private life when he leaves the office.
"I want to leave COTU in 2022 to lead a private life. I have done a lot for the workers in Kenya," he said adding that he has served the workers and Kenyans with diligence.
He observed that his retirement will mark the end of his active role in matters of national interest.
Atwoli also maintained that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will sail through. He noted that the report will change the nation in different ways if adopted.
Atwoli has been campaigning for a change of the constitution citing that there are certain aspects of governance that would benefit Kenyans if the constitution is changed.
