Ford Kenya party boss Moses Wetangula and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan have joined the country in mourning the demise of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.
Wetangula said that he received the news of Bob Collymore’s death with deep shock. The Bungoma Senator said that the deceased played an immense role in transforming the telecommunication firm. He also said that Collymore was a role model for millions of youths in the country before his demise.“I mourn the passing on of Bob Collymore, the Safaricom CEO, with deep sorrow. Bob managed and navigated the growth of Safaricom esp mobile money transfers. He exemplified the greatness & humility of a successful entrepreneur. RIP brother Bob,” Wetangula condoled Collymore's family.Joho described Collymore’s death a big blow to the country. He said that the deceased was his great friend and promised to stand with the family during this moment of trial.“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing on of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore. His leadership at the most successful company in Kenya will greatly be missed. My condolences go out [to] his family and the entire Safaricom fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace," he tweeted.Collymore died on Monday morning after a long battle with cancer. He has been survived by a wife and four children.
