Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has been trolled after she referred to her critics as fools in a tweet on Sunday.
The leader was responding to social media users who bashed her over the poor state of toilets in Kariguini Primary School, which is located in her constituency.
Responding to the tweeps, Wahome accused her critics of wrongfully targeting her, saying it is not within her mandate to fix school infrastructure.
"That is the shame of school infrastructure in Kenya. Not just Kandara. 'Jingawewe'," she responded to a tweep.
"I challenge those who have commented to tell me where in my contract as an MP, I was given the job of fixing school infrastructure then you will make sense, Wajinga Nyinyi (you are fools). Haters," she tweeted.
However, the remarks have not been received well by a section of Kenyans, among them ODM party Director of Communications Philip Etale, who has criticised the leader for the remarks.
He challenged Wahome to proceed and use the funds allocated to her to fix the school, instead of insulting her critics.
Mama Alice Wahome, you don’t insult someone who just volunteered to remind you of your failures. A good leader would have taken it positively, gone to the NG-CDF emergency kit and fixed the problem. Some things don’t need common sense, just fix it and you won’t call people ‘Jingawewe’," he tweeted.
